Unboxing and first boot

Plug it in. That's the whole install. Everything below happens on the touchscreen. You won't need a computer, an app or a cloud account.

In the box

• PHNTM One: Raspberry Pi 5 (8 GB) in a 10.1″ touchscreen enclosure with a speaker
• USB microphone for tap-to-talk
• Mini wireless keyboard with a thumb touchpad (its USB receiver is already plugged in)
• 27 W USB-C power supply
• A printed quick-start card, and a business card with this unit's serial on the back

First boot, step by step

1. Plug it in. Connect the 27 W USB-C power supply. That's the whole install. The screen lights up within seconds.
2. Let it prove itself. It runs a six-check boot self-test and, when it passes, says out loud that it's ready and that Private mode is on, about a minute after power-on.
3. Walk the on-screen setup. Eight short steps on the touchscreen: language, network (Ethernet needs no setup; Wi-Fi is optional), time zone, a name for the assistant, the username and password that become this device's login, your phone (optional), the Private-or-Boosted brain choice, and voice on or off.
4. Say hello. Type, or tap the mic and talk. No cloud account, no app store and no computer are needed at any point.

Good to know from day one

• Private mode is the default. Nothing you say leaves the box. Unplug your router and it keeps working, and we encourage you to try exactly that.
• Changing Wi-Fi later (new router, new house): ≡ menu → Wi-Fi settings.
• The full manual lives on the device at /docs, along with your unit's own burn-in certificate at /docs/certificate. Both work offline.
