Memory, history and open loops

What it remembers, and when

• "Remember that …" is saved instantly. The fact is written to disk and indexed before the answer is even generated, so it survives a power cut.
• Everything else is considered by a background pass about five minutes after the conversation goes quiet. It files at most one fact per exchange, and only things it heard from you. A power cut inside that window can lose a fact you never explicitly asked it to remember. The conversation itself is always on disk.
• You never have to type memories in, and you can read all of them in Memory. ✕ forgets one for good, from the record and from the search index.

What it already knows on day one

General knowledge from its model (Gemma 3: well-read, but not up to the minute), the facts about itself in the manual, and the few setup facts you'll see in Memory, like the name you gave it, your language, time zone and brain mode. It knows nothing about you until you tell it.

Your conversation history

Everything you and the device say to each other is kept on the device, indefinitely by default, and you can search it by meaning. Ask "when did I talk about the noisy fan?" and it finds the moment even if you word it differently. To keep less, choose a shorter retention window or clear it under Data & Privacy.

Open loops (Follow-Through)

• They come only from your own words, and only when there's a clear finish line: "I'm still waiting on the electrician," "I need to renew the county permit." It never invents tasks for you.
• It brings one back when it's relevant, in one short line, then gets out of the way. It won't repeat itself and never speaks to an empty room about them.
• You close them by saying "that's done" or tapping ✓. "Forget that", or ✕, drops one for good.
• They stay on the device and never go to Boosted mode. A factory reset erases them along with everything else.
