Does Umbra replace PHNTM One?

No. PHNTM One stays: it's the finished all-in-one with its own touchscreen, and it ships now. Umbra is the second choice for people who want larger models and already have a monitor and keyboard.

Can I reserve one or put down a deposit?

No, and that's deliberate. We don't take money for a product that doesn't exist yet. The waitlist is free, and when ordering opens, people on it hear first. Like PHNTM One, Umbra will be made to order.

Is Holiday 2026 a promise?

It's a target. Umbra ships when the reference unit passes the same test gate and burn-in as PHNTM One, not before. If the date moves, it moves here and in an email to the list, with the reason.

Will the price stay at $899?

$899 is the target: a one-time price with no subscription. The final price is announced when ordering opens, and the waitlist sees it first.

Who makes the hardware?

Umbra is built on the AOOSTAR G-FLIP mini PC. PHNTM will install and configure the software, and set up, burn in and test each unit by hand before it ships; the person who set it up will support it. PHNTM is not affiliated with or endorsed by AOOSTAR or AMD. AOOSTAR and G-FLIP are names of AOOSTAR, used only to identify the hardware; AMD, Ryzen and Radeon are trademarks of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

What screen and keyboard do I need?

A monitor with HDMI, or USB-C with DisplayPort input, and a USB or Bluetooth keyboard. The built-in 5″ screen is planned to show the face and live status (ready, thinking, which brain is on) even with the monitor off.

Will it work without the internet?

That's the design: like PHNTM One, Umbra is being built to run its models on the device, with no account and no PHNTM servers, and to keep working with the internet unplugged. We'll prove it on the reference unit before we claim it.

Should I wait for Umbra or buy PHNTM One now?

If you want a private assistant on your desk now and a 4B model covers what you need, PHNTM One is ready. If you're after bigger models or longer documents (both targets for Umbra), or you already have a desk setup, join the Umbra waitlist.

Why "Umbra"?

The umbra is the darkest, innermost part of a shadow. PHNTM One is the phantom; Umbra is the deeper one.
